Footnote about Codes
We talked very briefly a few posts earlier about the codes that are used to track your song and what happens to it. For example, an ISRC code represents a particular recording of your song
When you distribute a song to the streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, etc) via a distributor such as Distrokid (which I use), Tunecore, etc they will issue an ISRC along with the recording. (There is one ISRC which goes to all the streaming services so the one recording can be identified wherever it is played.). You should make a note of this ISRC as you might need to add it to the metadata on other services you use.
I use a spreadsheet on which I record every song and all the key information - song title, artist(s), composer(s), genre, trsck length, ISRC, dse of recording. I then have all the key data at my fingertips in case I neeed itb for osme future purpose.
