Getting Your Song onto Streaming Services
Almost certainly you want your song to appear on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other streaming services .. so you can get paid when it goes viral. Though it is possible to do this yourself, it is much easier to work with a distributor who will release your song, if it meets their criteria, to all of the major services (and some of the specialist and minor ones) simultaneously - and then collect any and all of your earnings on your behalf.
Soundcloud, Tunecore, Distrokid, CD Baby are popular distributors but they have different commissions. (Some keep a small percentage of your ernings to pay for their costs. Alternatively, some charge an annual (or monthly) fee and take no commission. Just check their terms on their websites.)
Another issue (for people like me who use AI in the production of their songs) is that many of the streaming services frown on AI-created music - and, as a result, distributors will not accept it for distribution. I have found Distrokid to be the most helpful and, as long as you put in the right metadata, Distrokid will take your music. This is true of music where you have written the song but used AI to produce the version of your song that you want to issue. If the whole song (music, lyrics and performance) is AI-generated, they are likely to reject it.
